8 Reasons to be Excited for Fall

2014/10/01

Holly_Harlan-264“Fall has always been my favorite season. The time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale.” ― Lauren DeStefano

1.    Pumpkin Spice Everything

Christmas might be the season for peppermint and cinnamon but Fall is the time for nutmeg and pumpkin spice. You don’t have to go very far to find something made with, smelling like or consisting of Pumpkin Spice. From Candles to Lattes and everything in between this sweet aroma dominates this wonderful season; if you don’t like it you better start getting used to it.

2.    Halloween Decorations Everywhere

Whether you are a fan of Halloween or not there is something humbling about kid friendly treats and costumes lining the walls of every store you visit this season. Hopefully it brings you back to a time full of fond memories going door to door with your family and friends, hoping for treats and not the dreaded (though sometimes equally fun) trick.

3.    Apple Orchards become a thing to do

Normally apple orchards aren’t much of a hot spot but for some reason when the cold weather is around the bend they become a hot spot of activity and fun. First Dates, Family outings and Friendly fun are all great options for the orchard, and remember that with Thanksgiving around the corner there is nothing better than having fresh apples in your stuffing and apple pie. I just made myself hungry.

4.    You have an excuse to buy yourself candy

You know exactly what I’m talking about. Any other time of the year the eyes of your cashier look at you with a little extra judgment but not in the Fall! I can buy all the prepackaged candy I want from my local grocery store without feeling the shame and judgment they so often offer. Little do they know that I don’t have any Trick or Treater’s coming by my house this year and I will most definitely be pigging out on all these candies tonight during “The Bachelor.”

5.    Perfect weather

It’s not too cold and it’s not too hot, perfect weather to grab a good book and a cup of coffee or tea and sit in the window reading. The fall is the most wonderful time of the year to go for a walk amongst the houses decorated for Halloween and the orange and yellow trees. Take advantage of what a beautiful part of the world you live in.

6.    Smell of Fire is in the air

There is something extremely pleasant about the faint smell of burning wood in the air and for whatever reason the Fall always tends to have that smell. Sometimes late at night if I’m out driving I’ll roll the windows down just to get the smell of burning fireplaces and piles of leaves. Let it take you back to simpler times around a campfire as a child.

7.    Thanksgiving

We as Canadians have the pleasure of having Thanksgiving in one of the most gorgeous seasons of all. Don’t look forward to Thanksgiving? Make it your own. Have friends instead of relatives or an amalgamation of the two for the perfect scenario. You can always do what you “need” to do to appease family on thanksgiving and have your own preferred get together the day after.

8.    All the new Shows premier

Finally the most superficial of all the reasons to love this season: the TV shows. We get to see what new shows are premiering this season and decide what we want to look forward to over the next short while.

Always loved the fall, thought it was because I was born at that time of year but reading this, how could you not love it?
