2012/01/12

The 1986 film Three Amigos is the perfect marriage of Comedy, Hearth and Adventure, starring Steve Martin (Roxanne, Father of the Bride), Chevy Chase (Christmas Vacation, Community) and Martin Short (Inner Space, Arrested Development), and Directed by John Landis (The Blues Brothers, American Werewolf in London) the film follow three actors who, after being mistaken for real gunslinger’s, are hired to defend a small town in Mexico from the Infamous El Guapo. Along the way they learn what it truly means to be a hero. Written by Steve Martin, Lorne Michaels (Saturday Night Live) and Randy Newman as well as featuring original songs from Randy Newman, the film takes elements from the Magnificent Seven, and other films of that genre.

This week marked the 25th anniversary of the film and the release of the Blu-Ray high-definition transfer along with never-before seen additional content. The Blu-Ray offers a never-before seen interview with the actors in 1986 before the films release and show them in a candid and friendly nature, over 20 minutes of never before seen deleted scenes with written introductions from Director John Landis, it also contains a commemorative booklet with interviews and photos from the Three Amigos earlier last year when they got back together.

The transfer itself is excellent with 1080i picture and 5.1 surround, the stunning blue skies contrasting with the desert brown make the film a must have for any Blu-ray collector who loves them some comedy.
